Red Scarves and Red Noses

Oh hey, I still draw digitally from time to time!
Apologies for the long absence, but finals happened and then I got sick and then the holiday blah blah.

I hope everyone else had/is having a good holiday!  Stay warm!

Water Color

Image heavy post ahead!
(also some nudity in case that matters)

And here is another batch of water color pieces done in my drawing 301 class this Fall.  I have got to say, I was VERY pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up enjoying that class, and also by just how much I learned!  I really love water color as a media and the kind of feeling and look it can give a person or object when you just let it do its own thing.  But most of all I think it seriously helped me to further my understanding of color.  Beautiful but unforgiving, water color forced me to really think about my choices and SEE what kind of colors were happening in whatever it was I was painting.  Valuable lessons were learned!

Once again I am so sorry for the terrible quality photos.  I tried using the auto correctors in Photoshop to bring back some of the color but bleh :\

Wishing Planet

My final project for this semester's digital art class

Wishing Planet from Sydni Gregg on Vimeo.

I worked really hard to apply all of the things I've been learning about Flash and animation in general to this project, and as a whole the end result was something I was very proud of.  I got some great feedback in my critique which is always welcome, since now I know what to play closer attention to for my next video.  Just overall I learned so, SO much from making this and I can't get over how happy I am about that.  Truly a testament to the fact that the best way to learn is by DOING.  Nobody ever got anywhere by doing nothing, right?

Speaking of which, my next little film thing will be my first project as a member of the Digital Art BFA department!  Yaaaayyy!  I am extremely excited to be a part of that group and my mind is already swirling with all the possibilities of where my next project can take me.

Anyway, finals are next week so I'm not quite out of the woods yet.  I am really looking forward to a relaxing winter/holiday break to rejuvenate and rest up for a busy Spring semester.  Gotta keep the ball rolling!  Good luck to all of you other busy students out there as well.  Finish strong!

Watercolor quickies (nsfw?)

It has been quite a while since I've posted.  Oops!  Been crazy busy.  In fact I still am!  Right in the midst of finals mayhem but I wanted to leave a couple of my fave pieces from my drawing/watercolor class.

Beware, many images of naked model lady are ahead!

These were all done in a sort of rapid, gesture drawing/painting cycle.  We'd get about 3 minutes on one then rotate to another in groups of 3 or 4 paintings, and we had 3 groups total.  That's a lot of paper! (but they are pretty small, like, less than 8x10)
Terrible photo quality is due to terrible photo skills.
